2014 Jaguar F-Type

<center><iframe allowfullscreen width="600" frameborder="0" height="320" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/V74oAzBHcFw" name="I1"></iframe></center> Jaguar brought in three TV presenters to sample prototypes of the F-Type on the Snetterton track and the roads around it. The F-TYPE, launched at this year’s Paris Auto Show, is Jaguar’s attempt to take on the might of Porsche’s 911. It’s a two-seater, convertible sports car, although we expect a coupe version to join the range later next year or early in 2014. Jaguar gave them the F-Type to drive around the Snetterton Race Circuit in Norfolk, England. In cold and challenging conditions at the UK’s Snetterton 300 circuit and on the surrounding Norfolk roads, the trio of international racing drivers and television presenters – resident in the UK, Germany and the US – were able to experience the F-TYPE’s performance in full. The F-Type video would still be a delight thanks to the sonorous exhaust notes from the supercharged V-6 and V-8 powerplants. Those forced-induction engines are the base, 3.0-liter V-6 making 340 hp; the mid-grade F-Type S that milks 380 hp from the same V-6; and the 495-hp F-Type V8 S that uses a 5.0-liter eight cylinder. The F-Type will show its gorgeous face sometime in 2013. To create the XJ220S, TWR removed all the aluminum bodywork (except the doors) and replaced it with carbon fiber, adding a front splitter, rear wing and wider side sills in the process.  It originally came with a V6 power unit that produced 680hp (689PS/507kW) and 712Nm (526 lb-ft) of torque, but a new titanium exhaust system by TWR and additional engine updates has raised it to approximately 700 hp (709PS/521kW). The leather interior has also been refurbished and Infiniti projector headlights have been added. Wheelbase: 104" <ul><li> One of only six built</li><li> Recent major mechanical overhaul and restoration</li><li> Twin-turbocharged, 700-horsepower engine</li><li> Jaguar style and performance at its pinnacle</li></ul> The original Jaguar XJ220 was introduced in the late 1980s as a concept; response was so strong that Jaguar enlisted Tom Walkinshaw Racing to conduct a feasibility study to determine if a production series would be possible. Although production was promised to be limited to just 350 units, Jaguar took deposits for 1,500 cars, which was then pared back to the originally promised limit. The standard XJ220 had a body built of aluminum. TWR modified nine of these cars; three examples were transformed into the XJ220C to compete in GT racing, while the other six were designated as XJ220S. The XJ220S model, like this example, was comprised of five "standard" units and one additional "modified" version. They were produced as road-going cars built to comply with homologation requirements. The Walkinshaw-built Jaguars were stripped of their aluminum body, save for the door skins. The original panels were replaced with carbon fiber and the XJ220Ss were also given a front splitter, wider sills and an adjustable rear spoiler. The additional body kit produced an even more menacing stance than that of the production XJ220. The carbon-fiber panels helped reduce the curb weight to a lithe 2,379 pounds, impressive for an 18-foot long Jaguar. The twin-turbo V-6 powerplant was overhauled to produce a whopping 680 horsepower and over 526 foot-pounds of torque. The current owner of chassis number 784 has retained it for the last eight years. Over that period a great deal of time, effort and money have been expended to add substantial performance and value to this already impressive supercar. The owner opted to have a proper titanium exhaust system by Tom Walkinshaw Racing installed at a cost of nearly $20,000. An expert from Spain was flown in to install the exhaust as well as perform a major service on the engine. This included replacement of all belts, injector cleaning as well as recalibrating and updating of the computer software. The result of this work is an outstanding output of approximately 700 horsepower. The brakes and clutch have also been serviced. The XJ220S was painstakingly repainted to match the Lamborghini color of Reventon Gray, making this supercar even more intimidating in a very contemporary color. Furthermore the leather interior was completely refurbished, and Infiniti projector headlights were also added. The original magnesium wheels were also refurbished and fitted with brand new tires. Since the early 2000s the owner has added about 1,200 miles to the odometer and only precious few since the cosmetic and mechanical overhaul completed this past year. It has been shown and won accolades at SEMA and is followed by a loyal group of devotees. Most other examples of the rare XJ220S reside in museums or in vast car collections and as a result have attained a mythical status. These special Jaguars deliver style and performance that is truly on par with more contemporary supercars yet arguably remains the most undervalued member of the species.

Frankfurt Motor Show: Jaguar C-X16 concept【Video】

Powered by a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 putting out 376 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, the C-X16 concept takes Jaguar's great heritage of supercharging into the next century with the addition of a "Push to Pass" hybrid system controlled through a steering wheel-mounted button. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which has an integrated electric motor that contributes an additional boost of 95 PS (70 kW / 94 hp) and 173 lb-ft (235 Nm) of torque. The new Jaguar C-X16 Concept car features the future of vehicle technology that will incorporate advanced hybrid powertrains. The C-X16 Concept car is powered by a prototype 3.0-liter supercharged engine with 375 horsepower and 332 ft-lbs. of torque mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The new 3.0-liter is said to be a completely new creation aside from the supercharged V6 powermill that is found in European versions of the 2012 Jaguar XJ. The C-X16 is a 2-seat rear-wheel drive coupe with a hybrid drivetrain and a perfect 50:50 weight distribution between the two axles. The compact measures 4,445 mm in length, 2,048 mm in width and 1,297 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,622 mm, making it the smallest Jaguar since the 1950s. The interior of the C-X16, done up in Vermillion Red with black trim, continues the One plus One concept with dual regions for passenger and driver. Looking firmly to the future, the C-X16 marks a new chapter for Jaguar. The two-seater concept has inspired new advances in design, in engineering and in vehicle technology to create the most compact and responsive Jaguar in a generation. A hybrid, the C-X16 combines searing performance with beautifully realised styling. Under the muscular clamshell bonnet is a next-generation supercharged V6 petrol engine producing 380 PS (280kW) and 332 lb ft (450 Nm) of torque. Already boasting a high specific power output of 126 PS-per-litre, the performance of the C-X16 is further supplemented by a Formula 1-inspired hybrid boost system with a steering-wheel mounted button for on-demand acceleration. Integrated into the eight-speed gearbox is a motor generator which draws power from a 1.6kWh battery pack mounted behind the seats for ideal 50:50 weight distribution. Charged through a brake energy regeneration system, the batteries allow the motor to provide an additional 95 PS (70 kW) and173 lb ft (235 Nm). Mounted in an aluminium chassis structure, the result is 0-62 mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds, a top speed of 186 mph and acceleration from 50-75 mph of 2.1 seconds. The C-X16 is also able to travel at speeds of up to 50 mph under electric power alone and has CO2 emissions of 165 g/km. The C-X16 measures 4,445 mm in length, 2,048 mm in width and 1,297 mm in height and has a wheelbase measuring 2,622 mm. In terms of overall length, the C-X16 is the smallest Jaguar created since 1954 and the XK120. The C-X16 will be presented at the Jaguar Land Rover press conference in Hall Five at the Frankfurt Motor Show on Tuesday September 13 at 09:15 CET.
